Activision has confirmed that there will be a new Call of Duty release this year, along with a slate of remastered titles.

A new instalment of the popular first person shooter franchise, rumoured to be Black Ops 5, will launch this Autumn.

There has been a lot of speculation as to which retro titles Activision are planning to remaster. The company has recently had considerable success with the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy and Spyro Reignited Trilogy re-releases.

Many people are suggesting that we could be getting a remaster of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, the classic skateboarding game.

Another potential candidate is 2009’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

Modern Warfare 2 remains one of the most beloved entries in the series, although it attracted a fair share of controversy at the time of its release. The biggest issue concerned an upsetting scene which places the player in the midst of a civilian massacre in an airport.

Fans will likely have to wait until May for the new Call of Duty to be formally announced, with more news about the planned remasters expected over the coming months.
