Sir: In your leading article "Truth is always the best basis for reconciliation" (19 June), I was amazed to read that "there were no concentration camps in Germany at the start of the Second World War". My father endured the horrors of Dachau and Buchenwald for a year before the outbreak of that war. Sachsenhausen and Ravensbruck also existed in the 1930s. The Nazis established concentration camps soon after their rise to power. They were not a response to bombing.
