Sir: It is clear that you are sickened by the Serbian treatment of the Kosovars. So am I, and I resent the use of the expression "ethnic cleansing", since in my book cleansing is a praiseworthy activity. In using the expression are we not lending an implied respectability to an odious process? It is too late to substitute something nearer to its true character, such as "destruction" or "extirpation"? What do others suggest?
