Sir: Ricks Thompson's assertion that international news channels do not make money is wide of the mark (letter, 28 June). CNN International does make money - and profits - and has done for years, as a separate financial entity from CNN in the US. It would be inappropriate for me to speculate on why BBC World can't also support itself financially.
CNN, far from concerning itself with a US viewpoint, now comprises four different services, each tailored to its region, and each offering over 90 per cent of content that is specifically produced for an international audience of more than 150 million households.
