Sir: In Michael Jackson's litany of characteristics which define Britishness (letter, 18 September) he omits to mention perhaps the most celebrated of all: our readiness to denigrate our culture, our people and our national identity whenever the opportunity presents itself. Perhaps he meant his letter to demonstrate this by example?
