Sir: When will ministers and newspapers understand that the so- called "rip-off" in car prices has absolutely nothing to do with the franchised distribution system? Cars are distributed in Europe in exactly the same way as in the UK. Any "rip-off" in prices is the responsibility of the manufacturers.
