Sir: Whatever the relative fuel efficiency of electric and internal combustion vehicles, electric ones win hands down. They are much quieter, an attribute that is being neglected.Why, if we had electric vehicles, and the road engineers moved away from their normal practice of laying the cheapest surface with the largest gravel so as to make the maximum amounts of noise, I might be able to go and sit in the garden again.
