Sir: Jeremy Laurance is right to regard the increase of anti-depressant medication prescriptions as something to be welcomed. For quite a number of years I have suffered a psychotic illness compounded by depression. When the right (for me) anti-depressant was found the improvement in my life was enormous. It has made the difference between existing and living. I offer thanks to the researchers and to the physicians who care for me.
