Letter: Davies' ordeal

Sir: Given New Labour's preference for control, can one assume that Ron Davies will be spending some time in a small Italianate village (conveniently in the principality over which he was earmarked to rule) until Messrs Blair, Campbell and Mandelson persuade him to reveal exactly why he did resign. I'm sure Mr Davies would make a good Number 8.
