Letter: Empty words

Sir. There are indeed too many words in the notice "This payphone is emptied on a daily basis". Paul Davison (letter, 28 September) suggests that the words "on", "a" and "basis" are redundant. But it's clear what the notice refers to, so "This" and "payphone" are also redundant. And why would frequency be of interest to a potential thief? So drop "is" and "daily". The only word that needs to be on the notice is "Empty".
