Letter: England's shame
Sir: On the morning of Monday 15 June my son, along with some 70 per cent of other 18-year-olds in France, wrote a four-hour essay for the obligatory philosophy paper in the Baccalaureate. The subject was "Comment decider qu'un acte est juste". Simultaneously British youth was burning Tunisian flags and stomping its way round Marseilles. An interesting cameo of cultural difference.
