Letter: GM food? No, thanks
Sir: We, as committee members of the Guild of Food Writers, deplore the Government's reluctance to establish a moratorium on the commercial development of genetically modified foods until such time as thorough long-term testing has been carried out. We believe it is up to the Government, Monsanto and others to prove GM foods are safe, not to wait until they are shown to be harmful.
We are advising all our 330 members to tell their readers not to buy GM processed foods - or if the product contains soya and its derivatives, not to buy it unless the label clearly states it comes from a GM-free source.
