Sir: Humans have been eating genetically modified food since the beginning of agriculture. It is only the speed and efficiency with which crops are modified that has been changed by recent techniques. Instead of going through several generations, gradually refining the selection of the required, desirable genes, these can be accurately pin-pointed in one go. Why should the end result be any more harmful?
