Sir: Tony Martin is not a "have-a-go hero" (leading article, 26 August). He is simply a man who defended himself and his property following repeated intrusions by vandals, a situation facilitated by impotent policing.

And I am afraid we do not all share your confidence in the ability of the courts to justly determine guilt or innocence.
