Sir: I hope the answers given in your weekly Technoquest column are usually more accurate than the statement that aircraft cannot fly at altitudes greater than 60,000 feet (26 November). Going back to the mid-1960s the Lockheed U-2 and SR-71 had service ceilings of 90,000 and 95,000 feet respectively.
