Sir: My attention has been drawn to a piece in your 27 January issue (People and Business) following Sir Patrick Brown's appointment to our board. Far from being lambasted by regulators, Thameslink has received considerable praise for its efforts to improve on the railway inherited from BR. Those efforts have seen trains refurbished, a major development to improve stations and security on the Wimbledon Loop, additional trains in service and, for many regular users, even fare reductions. The trains are modern and reliable and by no stretch of the imagination could they be described as crumbling.
