Sir: In recent years, BBC presenters have shown an increasing inability to enunciate the word "sixth", pronouncing it as "sick". This affectation was originally confined to newsreaders and reporters, but has now spread across the corporation. Most recently, members of the public are beginning to fall prey to the affliction. Can anyone offer an explanation?
