Sir: Dr Eamonn Butler suggests (letter, 23 April) that people who use public libraries should pay for the privilege. Probably the largest group of library users are people who are on low incomes. Perhaps Dr Butler might care to suggest how these people are going to be able to pay? Perhaps they don't fit into Dr Butler's brave new privatised world at all.
