Sir: Oh dear! Will Colin Welland never lose that enormous chip on his shoulder over rugby union (Weekend Review, 1 May)? Perhaps the reason is that his resentment is not really against the "Twickenham picnickers" but against the working-class players and supporters of the South-west and Midlands, South Wales and the Scottish Borders who declined to follow their Lancashire and Yorkshire brothers into a less intellectually challenging game?
