Sir: So, women-only carriages on the London Underground (leading article, 22 June) is a bright idea is it? Presumably their doors will open onto women-only platforms leading to women-only escalators and tickets will be checked by women-only staff before these poor women are forced on to streets crowded with ... men! If this is the kind of idea we can expect from private-sector ownership I hope London Underground remains a public service and is made safe for everyone to use.
