Letter: In Brief
Sir: The fact that more Serbian military hardware has survived in Kosovo than Nato believed is not a criticism of the alliance. On the contrary, it validates the strategy of concentrating on destroying the nerve-centres of the state, making all the Yugolslav army's guns, tanks and so on powerless to prevent Nato attaining its diplomatic objective - to end Serb rule in Kosovo. Those of us who thought the job required ground troops have been proved wrong. Air Marshal Harris must be grinning in his grave.
