Letter: In Brief
Sir: London Buses, which says falling asleep is no excuse for travelling beyond one's stop ("Nun is sued by bus firm for pounds 1", 3 July), should consider the public's feelings when buses do not arrive on time. Had the magistrates taken their courage in both hands, they might have demonstrated their contempt for such proceedings by inviting a change of plea to "Not guilty" and then, invoking the maxim De minimis non curat lex ("The law does not take account of trifles"), dismissing the charge.
