Letter: In Brief
Sir: It seems that the film-going public prefer entertainment over art (report, 12 July). But how surprising is this really, when as soon as Ralph Fiennes proclaims a 1966 black-and-white Russian film one of his favourites, your report deems him "pretentious"? If the public are to express affection for anything other than Hollywood trash, then they should be taught not to feel embarrassed about enjoying genuinely artistic works.
