Sir: John L Walters, is incorrect to say that Nixon in China, the opera by the American composer John Adams "has never had a proper performance in this country" (Stretch your Ears, 6 August). It was performed at the Edinburgh Festival as long ago as 1988, with John Adams himself conducting. It seems to take London a while to catch up!
