Sir: The article "Church ban on GM crop trials" (4 August) stated that English Nature had objected to church land being included in the Government's GM crop trials. This misrepresents English Nature's view.
English Nature has consistently called for scientific research to assess the potential threats to wildlife of GM crops and their management, before any commercial release. We believe the current trials are both important and necessary to collect that scientific evidence.
