Sir: Three cheers for Oliver Bennett ("Chatty airline pilots", 18 August). This irritating phenomenon is not confined to air travel. How many of us are sick and tired of rail companies telling us what our next station "stop" is and reminding us to take all our belongings when we leave the train? Is it only me who cringes at the robotic female voice which announces every station on the Circle and Central Line tubes? Why do we have to put up with this constant mollycoddling aural abuse?
