Sir: The experience of Carol and Laura Nash ("Great railway fiascos", 1 September) was no doubt frightening. But I do not see that the railway company has anything to apologise for. I remember as a child, travelling with my parents, being advised on what to do if we became separated, if I was stranded on a platform or on a train. Learning to cope with untoward happenings is part of life.
