Letter: In Brief
Sir: I have kept hens in my garden for over 20 years and never yet seen one eating its own droppings. They rummage in the ground for worms, but in ground that is clean. I can only assume that those referred to by Roger Stratton (letter, 24 August) were kept so close there was no ground beneath them that was not soiled.
