Sir: Like Judith Hubmann ("I didn't have time for the children", 8 September), I have given up my full-time teaching post, well before retirement age, and by choice. My two-year-old granddaughter summed up the situation when she referred to my former workplace as "Granny's school where you used to live ... when you were older."
