Sir: So Jack Straw has finally released the Government's long overdue Green Paper on the family.
The future is now one of touchy, feely counsellors and mediators. But what about the family relationships that have already collapsed in the period that has taken us to the top of Europe's divorce and single mums league?
No amount of counselling or mediation can succeed in an area where the actual implementation of the law is flawed.
What is required alongside the proposed legislation is a radical review of the family legal process. Then the whole perspective will be clear and all our children's future much more secure.
