Sir: You report that "Ron Davies warned that unless the media acted more responsibly few people would be keen to stand for public office." Indeed, but perhaps if people in public office acted more responsibly fewer people would be keen to pursue a career in the media. They are all hopelessly enmeshed in a Faustian pact.
