Letter: In brief

Sir: The greatest gloating over the weakness of the euro seems to come from those who profess most concern over high interest rates in Britain and the effects of a strong pound on export business. Joining the euro would not solve all our problems - indeed it would raise some new ones - but they fail to realise that if we were in, interest rates would be less than half their present level and exporters would have a currency about 10 per cent lower than it is today.
