Sir: There is only one aspect on which all the protagonists appear to be united: consumers should be able to choose whether or not to eat GM foods.

If food labelling regulations were extended to provide accurate information on this aspect, verified by an internationally accredited body, we would be free to concentrate the debate on environmental aspects.
