Sir: Anyone reading your letters page over the last couple of weeks might conclude that the physics community is beset by religious fanatics. Physicists tend to be as wholesomely secular as any other section of society. Indeed, trained as we are to question what we are told, we may be even less susceptible to random superstitions and unrefutable assertions than most.
