Sir: I find it incredible that the authorities persist in the belief that monoliths which have survived centuries of wind, rain and cultural and religious shifts (not to mention the catastrophic restoration by the precursor of English Heritage in the early Sixties) are at serious risk from a week or so a year of people dancing around them.
