Sir: Your concern about the subcontinent is superficial and motivated from a wish to raise the EU's profile in world affairs. As an Indian, I will be happy with EU mediation if the EU proves its expertise in solving long-standing territorial/ethnic problems that are closer to home, like Cyprus, Northern Ireland and Gibraltar. Solving those problems will also work wonders for EU standing in world affairs.
