Sir: To counter your republican propaganda, may I point out how much easier it is to remove a prime minister than a president? Your articles report that the American administration may be paralysed for months during impeachment proceedings, as it was during the Watergate affair.
In contrast, a prime minster can be disposed of in days by her own party (Margaret Thatcher), or summarily by the Crown (Gough Whitlam). Having a monarch with that power, independent of the normal political process, is an obvious advantage.
