Letter: Libraries shelved?

Sir: J M Walpole's overheard discussion between two education students as to the correct spelling of "ninety-nine" is indeed worrying (letter, 1 November). So, too, is the fact that he reports this conversation as taking place in the "book room" - do our colleges not have libraries these days?
