Sir: The current news about lords, collectively and singly, prompts me to suggest that the time has come to excise the very word from our language. Today, "Lord" means nothing. Many Lords are, of course, rich, and they can exercise the power that riches allow to anyone. But lords can no longer "lord it over us" in any other sense.
