Sir: I am pleased to be able to inform your anxious reader in Florida (letter, 9 October) that Jacob Bronowski's series The Ascent of Man is alive and well.

UK Horizons, part of the BBC Flextech UKTV cable and satellite group, has been showing the series this year, 25 years since it was first shown on BBC TV.

The next episode, together with a new specially-recorded introduction by Douglas Adams, can be seen on UK Horizons on 18 October. I hope our signal reaches the USA!
