Sir: David Lister's article, "We're not as dumb as they like to think we are," (6 March) quotes the former BBC head of drama Mark Shivas as saying: "The BBC just aren't making films any more". This comment originally appeared in Broadcast and Mark Shivas put the record straight in a letter to the magazine: "These aren't my words at all. Indeed, I expect to make at least two feature films for them over the next couple of years myself!" We spend over pounds 20m a year on films for the cinema and television.
