Letter: Millennial doubters

Sir: The chairman of our village's millennium committee considers, like Dr David M Williams (letter, 15 December), that the third millennium does not start until 2001.

A compromise was agreed with the rest, who thought 2001 would be something of a damp squib; we are planning an outdoor celebration between the two dates, now agreed for 7 July 2000, on our famous iron-age hill fort, Warbstow Bury.
