Letter: Nato's war on TV
Sir: It is this reader's opinion that the nature of war in this age is one in which the media play a crucial role. The populace at large depends almost entirely upon reporting in some form or another to keep from being blind to events which it can ill afford not to be.
Sadly, history has shown us that there are few forces more powerful than the ability to blind a nation to its own evils.
Propoganda is a powerful tool and a ferocious weapon.
The moment Milosevic turned Serbian television into the main instrument of his disinformation, it was he that turned it into a target, not Nato - the military minds of which would indeed have been negligent in their duties had they not attempted to shut down the Serbian broadcasting network.
