Sir: Lady Thatcher is entitled to her views about Pinochet, as she is to which guests she invites to drink with her, but she seems to be under the impression she still runs this country.
I had previously thought she believed in the rule of law, and would also support the view that Senor Pinochet should be given the benefit of a fair trial in Spain - something he conspicuously failed to give thousands of his opponents.
Other voices are urging compassion and clemency on the grounds of his health. No doubt those he is alleged to have ordered to be tortured to death were not too well either: what clemency did he show them?
