Sir: If the Archbishop of Canterbury and Jack Straw (as intimated) believe Pinochet should be let go on "humanitarian" grounds, can they tell us at what threshold of human rights abuses committed should former dictators not be released on these grounds: 15,000 murdered and not 3,000; 100,000 tortured and not 20,000?
