Letter: Repeal Section 28

Sir: There have been no successful prosecutions using this antiquated law, but substantial self-censorship. Teachers still feel unable to challenge homophobic bullying in schools, as has been shown by research. Adequate sex education, including on HIV, is impossible to achieve.

Surveys of MPs (by the George House Trust and Stonewall) show that there is no significant support in the House of Commons for maintaining this law. A one-line Bill could scrap it. There is no excuse for further delay.
