Letter: Science at bay
Sir: Let's apply a little thought to what will happen in the soil when genetic pollution is rife there ("Official data reveal GM crop risks", 17 June). DNA from transgenic crop litter has been found to persist in the soil for up to two years. Add to this that, if you deliberately design a gene construct to invade one organism, it will be happy to invade others. What does this add up to? A time-bomb which will waste our soil and put our farmers out of business.
