Sir: I can understand the uproar at Sir Cliff Richard's "Millennium Prayer" coming out top of the pops ("Stop Sir Cliff inflicting more damage on society", 7 December). The objection isn't really to Sir Cliff but to the Lord's Prayer.
Despite the muddle over the dating of Christ's birth, the Millennium is basically a Christian celebration, although the majority of people see it as a secular event.
Thousands of Christians like myself were delighted to have the Lord's Prayer to another setting at this time. I myself went straight out to a music shop in Oxford and ordered it for our parish charity fair. As it happens, I am not a fan of Sir Cliff myself.
