Letter: Slow it down
Sir: It is untrue that car restrictions hinder economic development (letter, 13 February). The reverse is true, as is shown the experience at Freiburg, Germany, and by studies in the UK. Far from being unrealistic, a 20mph limit would be a clear statement that cities may regain their ancient civic quality, where all, not just car drivers, may proceed in safety and calm.
