Letter: Talking cure works
Sir: What is missing from your articles on counselling in Monday's paper is how to find "good counsellors" and ones that can be trusted. As yet there is no statutory regulation but safeguards are provided by the United Kingdom Register of Counsellors and the British Association for Counselling.
Counsellors on the register are all accredited by BAC and therefore have received substantial training, counselled for a minimum of three years, received counselling themselves and have their work regularly supervised.
Most importantly, they all abide by Codes of Ethics and Practice and are subject to disciplinary action if they fail to do so.
